Who is Mighty Mike?
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Gal 2:20)
I am an ordinary man feeling and living God’s extraordinary love through my work, my marriage, my children (I have a five year old child and the little baby inside my wife’s tummy is now about six months old) and my community, Couples for Christ. Through these writings, I share my personal as well as my family’s journey with God.
Let me tell you my story.
I grew up in a typical, ordinary and somewhat dysfunctional family. I never really enjoyed a close relationship with my father who was away for most of my growing up years. But I was somehow assured that in his absence, he loved me. My mom raised us by her lonesome and tried so hard to also teach us the ways of God. Sadly, it took me about 18 years to finally see the beauty that the love of Christ brings. I hurt myself and others too.
Sometime in September of 1996, I was invited to a youth camp by a friend. Come to think of it, I was duped in to joining. I was trying so hard not to go home and asked a friend if it would be possible for me to crash in their house for the weekend. But he was going away for the weekend to go on this Young Adults camp and asked if I just wanted to go with him. There my personal journey with the Lord started. I have never looked back eversince.
I am not saying that it has been perfect. The battle to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord carries on everyday . I struggle everyday. I dust myself off every time I fall and carry on with this journey that I chose.
I am no preacher nor a writer. I am someone who is in awe of the love and MERCY that my God shows to a sinner like me.
I do not have a perfect marriage nor a perfect family. We also struggle to love, to forgive, to honor and to trust in each other along the way. Just like some of you. But we overcome our challenges by: 1) Praying together; 2) Eating together ; 3) Laughing together (we do this a lot); 4) Serving together.
How about you?
What’s your story?
Whoever you are, one thing is common though. The love of my God for me and my family is the same love He makes available for you. Allow Him to abide in you and I assure you of a peaceful heart and mind.
Please feel free to share or comment on my story.
Something to make you smile: Joke of the day.
A minister told his congregation, ” Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read mark 17″. The following sunday as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read mark 17. Every hand went up. The minister smiled and said” Mark has only 16 chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying”.
